Description

Are you someone who can make a difference?  Do relationships matter to you?  Do you have a passion and enthusiasm for enabling children and families to have their best life? Are you able to think creatively and help others to do the same, to bring about change?  If you can answer positively to these questions you may be keen to join us at Rochdale Council as we look to recruit to a key role in children’s services.

We have come on an interesting improvement journey in Rochdale over the last 5 or 6 years.  It has been hard work, but we have made great progress because of the terrific people we have in the service.

Rochdale’s children’s service is now widely recognised as making a positive difference to children and families.  We have strong partnerships across the borough which support our Family Services model, working across localities to make a real impact.  Our Relationships Manifesto demonstrates the pioneering culture of the borough in putting relationships at the heart of everything we do, and we have numerous examples of how we have improved outcomes through innovative approaches and best practice.

We are currently seeking a Head of the Safeguarding Unit and Quality Assurance, who will report directly to the DCS and manage the IRO manager, our LADO and the Business Manager of the Safeguarding Unit.   The postholder will also be the Principal Social Worker for the Borough.   The role will assist the development of independent scrutiny and continue to strengthen the effectiveness of the IRO service.  Our LADO team is innovative and is currently working with DfE on a number of interesting issues, and the postholder will continue to develop these areas, working closely with communities and partners.
